Why We Charge for Consultation/Case Reviews
We don’t believe it is ethical or fair to you to conduct a free consultation.
Because of this our office does not conduct thirty-minute free meet and
greet sessions. We know your time is valuable. We charge for consultations/case
reviews because we offer an in-depth analysis and review of your case.
When you leave our office, we want you to know and understand what your
next step should be. Each consultation/case review lasts approximately
1 ½ to 2 hours. Bring in your list of questions along with all
documents you want us to review. Give us an opportunity to advise you
correctly regarding child support, custody orders, division of assets,
or your other family law issue. When you leave you will have met with
a specialized family law attorney who has advised you on what your next
step should be and why.
What can I expect at a consultation?
You can expect to meet with an experienced attorney for 60-90 minutes.
We will ask questions, listen to your story, and give you some realistic
advice about what to expect. Most clients leave our office feeling better
and with a to-do list in hand.
Why do I need a consultation?
You need to find out your legal rights, what you should be doing to prepare
for court, what to expect, and how to handle any current disputes that
you may be having. Knowledge is power.
How soon do I need to meet with a lawyer?
If you think you need to meet with a lawyer then you probably need to meet
with a lawyer as soon as possible. Most clients feel better after coming
in because we have been able to answer very specifically the questions
that they have about the process, what to do, and how much it costs.
What do I need to say, ask, or bring?
Make a list of questions. This could be about our experience, the process,
how long it will take, what you should be doing, what you should not be
doing, or anything you’ve always wanted to ask a lawyer but never
been able to.
How much will it cost?
Our consultations cost $250. This is due and payable before you see the
attorney. You can pay by cash, check or credit card. You can also have
someone else pay for you in advance on our website under the Pay your Bill tab.
How do I schedule a consultation?
You can schedule directly on our website or call 573-303-5530.
Can I do a consultation over the phone?
Absolutely. We can also do FaceTime or Skype.
How do I find your office?
We are located next to Boone County Lumber and across from Columbia College
in the North Village Arts District of downtown Columbia. From Highway
63 the Paris Road/Route B exit is the easiest way to our office. From
Highway 70 the College Avenue exit will get you to us quickly.
